A note about AAUP National

(Sent to AAUP@KSU listserv, Monday, August 26.)

Welcome to our third week of classes. We hope that, so far, your semester has been full of pedagogical, scholarly, and community-building adventure. Like you, we have been busy in our classrooms, on Teams meetings, and catching up with the pace of life on campus. One information item for you, as we start the week . . .

AAUP National

If you have never joined AAUP National, we strongly encourage that. The national leadership structure pivoted this summer with an election that brought in four officers with a new vision for the organization. If you join national, you’ll receive regular updates and resources from them. We thought it would be good for everyone to be familiar with those officers and the collective campaign (under the name United Faculty for the Common Good) that they ran this year in advance of their successful election back in June. Additionally, have a look at this article/interview in N+1 published before the vote.

As we complete our calendar of meetings, socials, and workshops over the next week, we will be collecting feedback from you. Look for a survey that we’ll be sending to members on Friday so that we have best picture of member involvement, interests, and availability. In the meantime, reach out to us if you have questions about the work of the chapter or are willing to volunteer for one of our six open leadership slots.
